The Eleyinpo of Ipapo, Oba Ademola Abioye II, has called on Governor Seyi Makinde’s government to construct roads linking Ipapo in Itesiwaju Local Government Area to Ikere George Dam, Ikoyi Ile and Atisbo Local Government. He said such link roads were needed to open up these agrarian communities.
The monarch thanked the governor for his giant strides in the development of the Okeogun area and for his appointment as the Chairman of the Council of Traditional Rulers, Itesiwaju Local Government.
Speaking during the 2023 edition of the Ipapo Descendants Union meeting, the royal father lauded Gov. Makinde’s development strides but stressed that such development programmes should be spread to different parts of Okeogun and not only the major towns.
In his royal address, Oba Abioye urged indigenes and residents to forge unity, forgive each other and work together for the progress of the town. He assured his subjects that while some land cases were still in court, some tenants had been coming to the palace to apologise for past wrongs. “Such tenants have also pledged to pay their tributes as and when due,” he said.
The Oba warned parents in the town not to neglect their responsibilities to their children to check rising crimes and drug addiction. He vowed not to intervene for anyone involved in drugs and criminalities. He noted that in many instances, parents are to blame for the rising decadence among youths.
He commended the security agencies-police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Amotekun, OPC and Agbekoya- for their roles in protecting lives and property in the area.
